2025 Funded Residency In Western Australia
Residency
- Submission Deadline: June 2, 2024

- Eligibility: International
- Categories: Craft/Traditional Arts, Photography, Drawing, Film/Video/New Media, Mixed-Media/Multi-Discipline, Painting, Sculpture
- Location: Margaret River 6258, Australia
Located on an ancient, ever-changing piece of land that inspires awe and artistry, The Farm Margaret River offers immersion in the sublime. It is both a working rural property and a home to artist studios — a place to make, explore, examine and restore.
The Farm sits amid the ancient and diverse flora of Western Australia’s South West region, an ecologically significant place of sacred caves, rugged coastline and monumental karri forests. This is the ancestral Country of the Wardandi people, a cultural group of the Noongar nation who have lived on and from this land, the rivers that run through it and the ocean it meets in harmony for tens of thousands of years.
Here, we seek to engage with and learn from our natural environment through experimental practices, creative inquiry and visual languages. We host artistic collaborations, exhibitions and funded residency programs that invite local and global artists to produce and share new works responding to this unique landscape.
The Farm comprises several studios and a workshop, providing access to both agricultural farming land and natural bushlands. Our farm enjoys rich, mineral-dense soils and is home to diverse flora and fauna. An artesian spring feeds a dam and tributary that flows to the ocean. Waves can be heard crashing along the isolated beaches nearby, and witnessed from walking tracks that wind along coastal cliffs.
Our residency program is an opportunity to experience this place and contribute to our ongoing collective learning. As nature informs our artists, our artists inform us. Together we pursue a deeper understanding of our environment and our role within it.

Artist in Residence: 2024-2025 Call
Residency
- Organization: A to Z Wineworks
- Submission Deadline: June 5, 2024
- Eligibility: National
- Categories: Craft/Traditional Arts, Photography, Drawing, Film/Video/New Media, Mixed-Media/Multi-Discipline, Painting, Sculpture
- Location: Newberg, OR 97132
A to Z Wineworks, located at their REX HILL property in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, seeks an Artist in Residence for a term beginning in Fall 2024 with a harvest experience and ending in Fall 2025 as the 2024 vintage is bottled.
The A to Z Artist in Residence program is an immersion in the seasonal life of a winery, observing and participating in the art of winemaking. The artist follows the natural cycle of a vintage, first working a harvest, then remaining involved in the life of the winery while working on their own individual art as the wine moves from grapes to glass. The Artist in Residence initially works the 2024 vintage harvest as a paid intern alongside our seasonal harvest crew and year-round winemaking and production staff. Following the conclusion of harvest, the Artist in Residence receives support from A to Z and access to staff and properties for a period of artistic reflection and creation followed by a second partial harvest experience. The residency concludes with a public showcase of some of the artist’s work through a gallery showing, lecture, reading or performance.
About the Harvest Internship
At A to Z Wineworks, harvest is intense and filled with opportunity as fruit arrives from around the state - primarily Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay, plus a cross-section of other varieties. This diversity of fruit comes from our LIVE-certified and Biodynamically farmed estate vineyards as well as from conventionally farmed locations across many different Oregon AVAs (American Viticultural Areas). The vineyard sizes range from several hundred acres to very small sites.
This paid internship position typically runs from mid-August through early November, depending on the season. We value interns who share in our company culture of working hard, working smart, and learning together. Our interns work with a team that has earned the most years of collective winemaking experience in Oregon, as well as experience that stretches from Burgundy to New Zealand. Our winemakers approach winemaking from different perspectives and they are willing to share what they know.
The internship presents a unique opportunity to learn more about winemaking on different production scales and with different stylistic goals. It provides a diverse work experience, including but not limited to, grape receival, sorting, pressing, punch downs, tank dig-outs, racking, transfers, barrel work, inoculations, wine movements, juice, must and wine additions, driving a forklift and, always, cleaning.
Harvest interns work a demanding schedule, which will almost certainly include long hours, overtime, and weekend work. The role requires the ability to stand and move for at least ten hours; to lift, bend, rotate, move, and carry up to 45 pounds over the course of the shift and on a repetitive basis, and to climb stairs, ladders and work on catwalks. We expect people to work well within a team environment and work with individuals in a respectful manner that is consistent with the company’s values.
About the Residency
Following the conclusion of the harvest, the art residency commences extending through fall 2025.
Location: The Artist in Residence will primarily work at the REX HILL property in the Willamette Valley. The artist will have access to the winery, vineyards and staff throughout the course of the residency.
Disciplines, work equipment and assistance: We are open to proposals from artists, writers and poets across all mediums and disciplines. To learn more about our current and past residents, visit our website at https://atozwineworks.com/our-company/artist-in-residence/
Support: The residency includes a monthly stipend of $800 for the duration of the residency, beginning after completion of the paid harvest internship. Depending on the medium and artist’s proposed focus, limited additional consideration may be provided in support of furnishing project materials. Housing in the winery’s onsite gatehouse can be considered for inclusion in the residency; during harvests, this housing will be shared with other interns.
Expectations of the Artist: A to Z Wineworks supports people, places, and culture. It seems especially important now to support the liberal arts that help to find ways of expanding limited vision and engaging with diverse, thoughtful perspectives that might help us grow as human beings. The artist will be expected to engage with the staff and contribute to the culture of the winery through interactions and presentations, including providing materials to feature in regular internal communications. The artist will engage with the community at the end of the residency through a public showcase of some of the year’s work in a gallery showing, lecture, reading or performance.
Application Information: Interested artists should submit the materials listed below by June 5, 2024:
• A cover letter, describing the artist’s interest in this residency
• A brief resume highlighting work history and relevant qualifications
• An artist’s biography
• A portfolio of relevant work
Interested artists may submit their application materials at: https://atozwineworks.com/artist-in-residence-2023-submissions/ and view our short film featuring the residency and past artists at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFjqByGC4VI

Share Prize XVI, ‘ALL-NATURAL’
Competition
- Submission Deadline: June 9, 2024
- Eligibility: International
- Categories: Craft/Traditional Arts, Photography, Drawing, Film/Video/New Media, Mixed-Media/Multi-Discipline, Painting, Sculpture
- Location: Torino 10124, Italy
Share Festival, the Italian exhibition of contemporary art linked to technological evolution and science announces the theme of the sixteenth consecutive year of the Share award. The works nominated for the award must follow the theme described here:
SHARE PRIZE XVI
‘ALL-NATURAL’
For the XVIII edition of Share Festival, we make this demand because we know it's impossible.
Here in glamorous Torino -- a city known for its cordial support of "every form of art" -- we can't take one natural, untainted breath. Not only is the planet's whole atmosphere polluted with Greenhouse gases -- here in Torino, thanks to our industrial heritage and our specific geographic climate, we're particularly badly off from an all-pervasive haze of PM2.5 micrometer pollution particles, including metals, combustion products and even agricultural dust. As you read this, we breathe that.
And yet, at the very same time, our Italian province of Piedmont is world-famous for its devotion to hand-crafted, artisanal "Slow Foods" grown from the unique plant and animal varieties of the fruitful Italian soil.
In our forthcoming Festival, we plan to tackle this contradiction headlong -- through our favorite medium of technology art. Can this become a dialectic instead of a contradiction? Can we witness net.art that is all about birds, bugs, bees and natural local landscapes? Can we interact with robots made of natural woods, sculptures digitally carved from marble, and interactive artworks composed of horn, reeds, seashells, bamboo, straw, bones, fossils, or better yet, severely imperiled natural materials entirely unique to the artist's own region in the world?
It's not enough to "defend the environment" -- how can natural materials infiltrate tomorrow's unnatural substance and take some terrible, weedy revenge? Please do your best for us. We need a breath of fresh air!
Bruce Sterling, Direttore Artistico di Share Festival
Jasmina Tesanovic, Curatrice di Share Prize
Share Festival announces the sixteenth edition of Share Prize contest dedicated to contemporary art declined to technologies and sciences. Libby Garon has worked as the Gallery Director at Walker Fine Art (WFA) for the past 7 years and strives to connect beautiful artworks with collectors who love them. WFA is a 22-year-old mid to advance career gallery in the heart of Denver’s museum district showcasing original contemporary art, which features group exhibitions from a diverse roster. As Gallery Director, she works to build strong relationships with collectors and artists that are founded on trust. Her goal is to learn about her clients to guide them towards collecting artwork that reflects their authenticity, either through resonating with the subject matter, aligning with their passions, or telling an aspect of their life story. Everyday WFA works to ensure that their exhibitions align with their mission: to give our artists a space to connect with the greater public presenting work that uplifts, heals, and is emotionally evocative, while also constantly navigating the balance between commerce and creativity.

FERRARA SHOWMAN GALLERY proudly hosts the 28th iteration of our annual call for artists - NO DEAD ARTISTS: International Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Art. The call is open through 17 JUNE 2024 and the exhibition participants are selected by an ever-changing group of three prestigious arts professionals. The exhibition itself is installed in the gallery for the entire month of September and first-half of October with an opening reception in conjunction with the Arts District New Orleans’ First Saturday Gallery Openings in September 2024 from 5-9 pm.
The exhibition was created in 1995 to give a voice to emerging artists. NO DEAD ARTISTS has become an exhibition that has time and again discovered new and emerging talent and is one of the most celebrated art exhibitions in the South. The exhibition’s name is derived from the old adage that artists never achieve success until they are dead. NO DEAD ARTISTS turns that notion on its head and gives emerging artists their first break in the art world. In the ’90s, the exhibition was open only to New Orleans artists and subsequently grew to include artists of Louisiana. In 2010, the exhibition expanded to become a national juried exhibition open to artists from the entire United States and the call went international in 2014.
The exhibition has been a springboard for numerous artists leading to national press coverage, recognition, gallery representation and acquisitions by museums and other prominent collections. Each year the gallery invites a panel of renowned arts professionals and collectors to select the newest creative talents.
NO DEAD ARTISTS is an INTERNATIONAL OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS, open to living artists of all ages, emerging and established, working throughout the world.
