Green & Stone, the internationally renowned art shop, opened the Gallery in 2018.
Each year, we host two open calls in search of emerging talent. The first prize of our Summer Exhibition is a fully funded solo show. Previous winners include Nneka Uzoigwe, Michael Slusakowicz and Tushar Sabale. Since exhibiting with us, these artists have soared within the artistic community.
We take pride in being many artists' first rung on the ladder of success. We are a gallery orientated towards emerging artists with incredible talent and potential. The work we exhibit is unique, contemporary and affordable. Our growing community is testimony to the success of our model. Our ambition is to create a space that will become a primary resource upon which artists, collectors, researchers, curators, and the broader artistic community might draw and benefit in the future.
Since 2018, our Summer Exhibition has grown exponentially. It is now accompanied by over £20,000 worth of prizes and a notable selection panel that changes yearly, encouraging a refreshed selection. Selection is done blindly and assessed purely on the quality of the artwork. The selection culminates with the Private View, a fantastic opening night hosted by the Gallery, which spills onto the street. This is an excellent opportunity to network with artists, curators, collectors, and art lovers. All are welcome and encouraged to join.
This year, we are excited to announce the expansion of our Gallery, which will add another room to our Summer Exhibition. This room will allow another additional 40 - 50 artworks. We are also excited to announce we will be giving the fantastic Young Artist Award, a cash prize of £3,000, which was generously donated by the de Laszlo Foundation for the third year running.

ABOUT JUNETEENTH
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the abolition of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. This was two and a half years after President Lincoln?s Emancipation Proclamation ? which had become official January 1, 1863.
Today, it is a holiday that highlights the extraordinary contributions made by African Americans to the community, and also celebrates unity and hope for communities across the nation.

Emery Community Arts Center invites artists to submit their work for consideration in our upcoming thematic exhibition, "The Thinking Hand." The forthcoming exhibit will feature a survey of contemporary artworks in multiple media that engage the legacies of craft and the poetics of technique and process as methods of material exploration and storytelling.
The exhibition borrows its title from Juhani Pallasmaa’s book, The Thinking Hand: Existential and Embodied Wisdom in Architecture. Throughout this influential text, Pallasmaa analyzes, “the essence of the hand and its seminal role in the evolution of human skills, intelligence and conceptual capacities,” and proposes that, rather than the mind being the solitary control center of imagination, “….perhaps, it is the hand that really imagines as it exists in the flesh of the world, the reality of space, matter and time, the very physical condition of the imagined object.” Artists are encouraged to submit 2D, 3D or time-based works that engage physical processes, material exploration and/or new approaches to traditional techniques as foundational elements in building form, meaning and/or narrative in the artwork.

For the next edition of the Watao art festival, we aim for a Watou shaped by collectives and collabs, celebrating collaborative creation’s diversity and strength. The theme of this year’s open call, “The Smell of Grass is Changing”, represents the adaptation, transformation, and renewal we seek in art, inviting reflection on our changing world and its impact on our creative process and interactions. Internationally acclaimed artist Koen Vanmechelen invites artists for an in situ encampment as an immersive experiment.
We invite collectives or collabs (a minimum of 3 people) to participate in the next edition of Watou Arts Festival. Selected collectives or collabs will work in situ at one of the festival locations and transform that location with site-specific (indoor and/or outdoor) artistic contributions. Thus, collectives or collabs must be willing to visit the festival during the summer of 2024 (6 July – 1 September) to meet with the organisation and to develop their project afterward. Mixed teams with participants from fields other than visual arts are encouraged to apply. The Art Festival Watou is known as a festival where visual arts and poetry merge. About the Franklin Sculpture Park | Described by Boston Magazine's Nathan Tavare's in 2020 article, "The town of Franklin manages this petite park, spreading out over just about an acre at the past site of the now filled-in old town pool, where you can now float around the 13 sculptures. Opened in 2014, the park’s gentle walkway curves around a pond, showcasing view of local wildlife and artwork, like the painted PVC pipes of “The Trees of Life” that rise from the water, and Buddy Olson’s giant welded steel bear named “Ursus.”
We now invite the next generation of artists to exhibit their work in our public park.

FERRARA SHOWMAN GALLERY proudly hosts the 28th iteration of our annual call for artists - NO DEAD ARTISTS: International Juried Exhibition of Contemporary Art. The call is open through 17 JUNE 2024 and the exhibition participants are selected by an ever-changing group of three prestigious arts professionals. The exhibition itself is installed in the gallery for the entire month of September and first-half of October with an opening reception in conjunction with the Arts District New Orleans’ First Saturday Gallery Openings in September 2024 from 5-9 pm.
The exhibition was created in 1995 to give a voice to emerging artists. NO DEAD ARTISTS has become an exhibition that has time and again discovered new and emerging talent and is one of the most celebrated art exhibitions in the South. The exhibition’s name is derived from the old adage that artists never achieve success until they are dead. NO DEAD ARTISTS turns that notion on its head and gives emerging artists their first break in the art world. In the ’90s, the exhibition was open only to New Orleans artists and subsequently grew to include artists of Louisiana. In 2010, the exhibition expanded to become a national juried exhibition open to artists from the entire United States and the call went international in 2014.
The exhibition has been a springboard for numerous artists leading to national press coverage, recognition, gallery representation and acquisitions by museums and other prominent collections. Each year the gallery invites a panel of renowned arts professionals and collectors to select the newest creative talents.
NO DEAD ARTISTS is an INTERNATIONAL OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS, open to living artists of all ages, emerging and established, working throughout the world. All mediums are accepted including, but not limited to, painting, sculpture, design, glass, metalwork, photography, video, performance, mixed media and installation art.

All images must be in .jpg format and videos in .mov format - high resolution files around 1MB are preferred. All works must be for sale to be included in the exhibition.
Any winning entry will be subject to a standard 50% gallery sales commission in the event that it is sold and should be priced accordingly.
The artist is responsible for ALL shipping costs including return shipping of all unsold work and import/export duties and taxes.
