Maki-e ovoid ikebana vase made from paulownia wood. Has gold bird, gray bamboo tree, and gold and brown bamboo leaves. Bamboo is one of the three friends of winter along with pine and plum. Maki-e is a lacquer technique where several coats of lacquer are applied to a surface to achieve a relief effect. Has 4.75" cutout lined with copper to accommodate a kenzan.
