An analog 3D animation module is created using a high resolution camera and a small wave toy. The wave toy shakes, generating a live animation of sharks swimming around on the screen. This work fluctuates between real and cartoon; the animation is generated using real materials and physics but by scaling up the size of the toys they become like outlines or drawn images.
The work also plays upon the notion of film storytelling. While the two sharks’ movements are randomly generated, the viewer can still think that they are playing, fighting, or frolicking.
