The story behind this piece is a pretty powerful one.

Anything not attached to the tree will be cut off and will die. One of my students and I had a conversation about being connected to the right source. If you are not attached to the truth, you will be cut off. It was a hard truth but my student needed to hear the hard truth. I remember saying to him, if you are not connected to the source, you will die. The next morning that very student was involved in a car accident and was airlifted to the hospital. Near death, resuscitated multiple times, and was told by doctors that there was no way he should’ve made it. He walked out of the hospital with nothing but a slight limp and a few scratches. God reminds us that he is the vine and we are the branches and if we remain in him he will remain in us. He continues to show us how he is making things new. He is not afraid to go to the places you don't want to go to so you can find healing and new life.
