This artwork was made onsite at the South Oshawa Community Centre where visitors were encouraged to watch and converse with the artists as they created the piece.
In this piece, Shackleton and Brown juxtapose local imagery with scenes of ecological destruction, specifically addressing recent wildfires and associated air quality concerns in the Greater Toronto Area. Transplanting trees from the Oshawa Valley Botanical Gardens and Harmony Creek Trail, they intricately weave them with the Tribute Communities Centre in downtown Oshawa. This fusion of locally inspired elements serves as a stark reminder that environmental challenges are unfolding in our own communities.
