Johan Sebastian Bach gave the title Das Wohltemperierte Klavier to a book of Preludes and Fugues in all 24 keys, major and minor, dated 1722; a second book with Preludes and Fugues in the same keys appeared 20 years later. During 2021 - 2022, in collaboration with pianist Marcel Worms, the artist created a series of paintings, in oil on canvas as well as in acrylic paint on paper, related to J.S. Bach's Well-Tempered Clavier while listening to and following the music. Each key of the music has a characteristic mood according to the doctrine of the affects (German: "Affektenlehre") developed in the Baroque. In this composition, the analogy with music is evoked by the order and disorder of a fractured system.
