MUSICPAINTINGS is the all encompasing title for paintings in oil on canvas created in the artist's studio in reflection on a specific classical music piece, during the years 2000 - 2020

Related to Dvořák’s Symphony No.9 - "From the New World", these series of paintings are a reflection on the overwhelming and cathartic power of the symphony and the Utopian metaphor of a new world. A world not on any map, but rather as 'a state of mind', which can be sensed through images of a fractured light shining from behind the pictorial scene. Theme's from nature (landscapes, sea waves, crystals, the sunrise...) were painted in a process of abstraction, in various sketches leading to oil on canvas paintings. During the creation of this series "From the New World", the artist was living in Prague and undergoing new influences, such as music by Czech composers and artworks by František Kupka and Czech Cubism, which she studied with great interest to find new ways of expression.
